Thank you for coming to our website.
We provide fire information primarily for San Bernardino
and Riverside Counties.
We hope that you
will take the time to follow the links in the
left-hand column on this page to learn about how you can
make your home and community more "fire
safe". But remember: please evacuate
when asked. Homes and possessions can be
replaced. As one seasoned firefighter said
during the Grand Prix Fire, they're only

Current Fire Situation:
The Apache Fire was reported at 4:35pm on
Tuesday, April 29, and is located on Apache Peak in the San Jacinto
Wilderness of the San Bernardino National
Forest. The fire is
currently burning toward the east. Last night, a
fire crew hiked to the fire and monitored it
overnight.
Currently, 9 hand crews are hiking to the fire
and aircraft is available with limited opportunity due
to high turbulence over the fire area and marine layer
fog in the valleys. The crews are
experiencing steep terrain, smoke and difficult
access.
Command of the fire will transition to a Type 2
Team this evening, So Cal Team 1(Carlton
Joseph).
Weather
Remarks: A
red flag warning is in effect for Riverside County today from
11am-8pm.
Currently winds are 15-20 mph out of the west,
with gusts up to 40 mph. A marine layer
at 5,000 feet is not expected to lift until this
afternoon.
Evacuations
& Road Closures: There are no
evacuations in place. The San Jacinto
Wilderness is closed until further notice. The Devil’s
Slide Trail, the Southridge Trail, the Spitler Peak
Trail, the Fobes Ranch Trail, the Cedar Springs Trail,
and a section of the Pacific Crest Trail are also closed
until further
notice.
Agencies Involved: The Apache Fire
is being managed by the USFS with assistance from
CALFIRE and Riverside County crews, and
cooperation with the BLM and the Agua Caliente
Tribe.
